Musee d'Orsay

Musee d'Orsay is my favorite museum in Paris. As you can see, the interior is gorgeous. It used to be a railway station and now it houses three levels of paintings, furnishings, and sculptures. Upper level 5 (the 3rd floor) is the best because that is where the impressionist paintings are housed. Rooms are dedicated to Degas, Van Gogh, Cezzane, Monet, Sisley, and Manet. These include paintings I never thought I would have the pleasure of seeing in person. Such as:

Admission is 6,50 euros and the audio guide is 5 euros. I am usually too cheap to buy the guide, but I did on my second visit to d'Orsay and it was worth it.

Train line C has a stop titled Musee d'Orsay and you will literally emerge in front of the museum. It couldn't be any easier. Enjoy!

La Victoire Supreme du Coeur (Supreme Victory of the Heart) !!!

I went to this vegetarian restaurant a few days ago with my french boyfriend's mom. We took the B line there and got off at the Chatelet-Les-Halles stop. Any line or metro will get you to Chatelet since it is a major hub for public transportation. After a few blocks we were there and walked through the pretty, but very heavy white door. And then we walked back out again as we had arrived ten minutes too early. BF's mom explained that the waiters eat before their shift begins at noon and that we should walk around a bit in order to give them time. The surrounding area is pretty with lots of boutiques, cafes/restaurants, and interesting graffiti that made me regret not taking my camera with.

When we returned we were seated by open windows that looked upon both the street and the local Le Marche Franprix, which is a grocery store of 'eh' quality. I appreciated being able to look out the window at the passersbys since this was the first time I had gone out alone with BF's mom. As a result I can tell you that many Parisians bring a wheeled soft sided cart with them to bring their groceries back home in. Clever.

Both of us ordered the Bolivian salad, which consisted of quinoa, avocados, purple/green carrots, dressing, and seitan. She subbed tofu for the seitan which I regretted not doing as well. I also had a mango lassi and she had a grapefruit/carrot/lime juice which she said she liked.

The decor is interesting. There are plants in little pots adhered to the walls so that they are horizontal instead of vertical. An orange panel sits atop the table with cut-outs for drink glasses. The silverware is distinctive as well, the stem of my fork was flipped over ninety degrees.

All in all, I enjoyed the experience, but its not my new favorite or anything.

*Update: I asked the boyfriend if had been there, and he agreed that it is okay, but not fantastic.
